As entrepreneurs, it's easy to get caught up in all the things our businesses demand of us and forget that our business has to work for our life instead of our life working for our business.
Make your business work for your life
If you've been following me on Instagram, you may have seen that we recently got a new puppy. At times, it's annoying that he needs to go out or wants to play at the exact moment that I'm right in the middle of something, but it's also a great (and much needed) reminder that I can't push my life to the side for my business.
Not long ago, I wrote a post about balance and how we have to make a choice every day about what we're going to focus on. The more I explore this choice, the more I realize that it's hard to choose ME. It's easy to sit at my desk all day for my business or spend a few hours cleaning the house for my family. It's much more difficult to decide to put the dog in the crate, sit my husband down in front of a video game, and take a bath just because it feels good.
Even during family time, I find myself focusing on what I should be doing for someone else instead of relaxing and recharging.
If you're in this place, here are my words to you: you can't take care of your life or business if you don't take care of yourself. So make some time to do what you love even if that means you have to be a little "selfish." Take a bath, order in Chinese, pick the movie, or just leave the dirty dishes in the sink and take a walk. You'll be surprised at how much those little moments can refresh you and make you so much more ready to take on life and business.
