The Challenge: Outdated Website, Broken Tech, and a Need for Simplicity

Rory Faherty, founder of the Minnesota Center for Functional Medicine, offers personalized care through lab testing, 1:1 support, and a functional medicine membership. But his old website wasn’t reflecting the professionalism or clarity of his practice.

Rory came to me after his WordPress plugins stopped working, leaving his site visually broken and hard to navigate. Beyond the tech issues, his biggest frustration? “Just very blah, not much structure.” He added, “did not look professional in my opinion” — and as a medical provider, that first impression really mattered.

He didn’t want to wrestle with backend tech anymore. What he needed was a clean, well-organized website that looked good, matched his brand, and (most importantly) showed up in search results.

“Overwhelm. Need help. Too much to do.”

How We Rebuilt Minnesota Center for Functional Medicine’s Website in One Week

Rory chose my One-Week Website Design package because it offered a fast, focused way to get a professional site up and running without dragging out the process. Here’s how we made it happen in just five days.

1. Prep: Building a Strong Foundation with Strategy + Visuals

Rory didn’t have a set aesthetic or clear examples of sites he liked — he just wanted it to work well. We used his logo to anchor the color palette, then refined those colors for accessibility and paired them with a clean, modern typeface for clarity.

I also built a custom stock image library that reflected the tone of functional medicine — calm, trustworthy, and professional — so we had high-quality visuals throughout the site without the stress of a photoshoot.

2. Propose: Presenting a Simplified Layout That Made Navigation Easy

By Day 2, Rory received a homepage mockup that made it simple for clients to:

  • Understand what services were available

  • Learn more about how he works

  • And easily book a consultation

His feedback? He really liked the colors and how the layout clearly guided people toward the right service. No revisions needed — we moved forward with the full build right away.

3. Produce: Bringing the Vision to Life with Clean Design and Content Flow

Over the next three days, I designed and built five key pages on Squarespace:

  • Home

  • About

  • Services

  • Contact

  • Blog

To improve navigation and user experience, I helped organize Rory’s content into a flow that made sense — no more cluttered menus or long-winded pages. The detailed information he wanted to share was placed into blog posts instead of adding more dropdowns or confusing navigation.

We also embedded his Practice Better integration so clients could easily book appointments and manage care — no need to toggle between systems.

4. Perfect: Optimized for SEO, Mobile, and Accessibility

Because pretty isn’t enough if people can’t find you, I did a full SEO setup:

  • Keyword research

  • SEO titles and meta descriptions for every page

  • Optimized image file names and alt text

  • Fast loading times and fully mobile-friendly design

  • Accessibility best practices for color contrast and readability

5. Propel: Ongoing Support and Confidence to Make Updates

Once the site launched, Rory received access to my full tutorial library along with 30 days of personalized support. That included quick design edits and strategy calls as he started thinking about launching new services.

Now he’s equipped to make updates on his own without having to figure out how to fix broken plugins ever again.

The Results: A 94% Increase in Visitors and 18 Keywords on Page One

Since launching the new Minnesota Center for Functional Medicine website, here’s what’s happened:

  • Website visitors up 94%

  • Pageviews up 86%

  • 30% of traffic now comes from organic search

  • 18 keywords ranking on Google, including 12 in the top 3 spots

  • Ranking for specialty- and location-specific search terms

This project shows what’s possible when strategy, clean design, and SEO come together — especially for health professionals who are short on time and overwhelmed by tech.
