How This Accountant Got a Website She’s Finally Proud to Share

Strategic Website Design

This Squarespace site for a bookkeeper is bright, fun, and informative. It's filled with small details strategically designed to share Stacie's services and support her growing business. #squarespacedesign #websitedesign

THE CHALLENGE:

Stacie is a bookkeeper for boutique owners who works with clients online and focuses on the Profit First method. She is passionate about helping her clients feel confident in their finances so they can run their boutiques and focus on working with their vendors.

Her business was growing based on word-of-mouth, but her website didn’t reflect her or the needs of her business. While it contained the information clients needed, but had a lack of continuity that meant Stacie did not send people to her webiste.

We worked together to strategize the pages that should be included on her website based on her industry and crafted a design that reflected her friendly personality that she could be proud to send clients to.

What is your business and how is it going?

“I am a bookkeeper and Profit First coach for Boutique owners. It's going REALLY well! I am generally over-booked which I am trying to get away from! I don't need to advertise really because of the niche I am in. And, my clients refer people to me all the time.”

How do you feel about your current website?

“It's disjointed and doesn't reflect me at all. I originally let a friend create it for her portfolio. But, because of the friendship I suppose, I wasn't vocal enough about what I really envisioned. I have tried to change things. I even paid someone for a blog mini-makeover. But, that just put an ugly header on it.

I just don't feel proud to send people to it. I NEED it because that is how clients get to me from a hub group I am part of or from client referrals. But, it's just not right.”

THE PROCESS:

Stacie had a previous website on Shopify, but wasn’t happy with the design or content. She wasn’t sure what she needed in a website, so we started by designing a mood board based on her new logo and brand questionnaires.

Stacie’s goals for her website included starting a blog to help newer boutique owners who could not yet hire a bookkeeper, building an email list, and start teaching retail owners to run a successful business.

Based on these goals and our conversations, I mocked-up the major pages for Stacie to review and we refined the design. We also worked together to choose the stock images used on her website.

Before launch, I tested the entire website and made sure the mobile version of the website reflected the desktop design. Once the website was live, we gathered analytics data and conducted a User Experience test. We then strategized and made changes based on those results to help Stacie’s website better meet her goals.

What your biggest goal for your business and website?

“Right now I would like my site to be a killer first impression of me! I really just need info about services, testimonials, FAQs and then a blog ready to implement. My clients do not purchase services through my site. The end goal is for them to book a discovery call on my calendar. My current site is on Shopify which I'd like to cancel. I have started a setup on Squarespace but feel rather lost.

I need someone who can understand my vision or the personality of my business and create a website that accurately reflects what I'd like my brand to be.”

The Outcome:

Stacie has grown her business and is working with higher paying clients. She now has the ability and confidence to promote her website and has launched a new service focusing on Profit First bookkeeping. She has also started an email list for her future teaching plans.

  • Began her email list

  • Chosen to be part of a new Profit First roll-out

  • Received the Profit First advanced certification

  • 69% of traffic from organic searches

  • Website visitors up 26%

Would you recommend Lemon and the Sea?

“Absolutely!! I know that anyone I recommended to Samantha would be well taken care of and would get the same type of service and attention that I did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any of my friends or contacts.

I think anyone who is nervous about finding someone who they can trust with their business vision should just book a call with Samantha and they will see why they should hire Lemon and the Sea!”

I had a website that I felt didn’t portray ME at all. The information was there, but the look and feel had a lack of continuity. I really didn’t use my site or send people to it. I honestly had no idea how to describe what I really wanted my site to be. Throughout the process, I never felt alone. The feedback and suggestions were SO appreciated. And, I never felt afraid to ask questions or request even little changes. I love that Samantha has a very organized process, but that she was willing to work with my needs. I know that anyone I recommended to her would be well taken care of and would get the same type of service and attention that I did. Anyone who is nervous about finding someone who they can trust with their business vision should just book a call with Samantha and they will see why they should hire Lemon and the Sea!
