The Challenge: A Slowdown in New Patients

This naturopathic doctor had built a practice that typically brought in new patients through word of mouth and online searches. But after years of relying on that steady flow, things suddenly slowed down.

“Last year, I experienced a slow-down in my business that was concerning. It lasted 3 months. My typical new-patient influx via word-of-mouth and web searches was at a standstill. ”

The existing Squarespace website had a lot going for it. The client liked the photography, simple design, and green color palette that coordinated with the existing logo.

The problem wasn’t that everything needed to be thrown out and rebuilt.

Instead, we needed to make the website more strategic—especially when it came to helping the right people find the practice through search and quickly understand why they might want to work with this particular doctor.

The client summed up the goal simply: “I want people to learn about me, my practice and offerings, the medicine, and be excited to call and work with me. ”

The Refresh: Keeping What Worked and Improving What Didn't

For the Website Refresh Intensive, I kept the simple, natural feel the client already liked while improving the design, organization, and strategy throughout the site.

This wasn't about making the website look completely different just for the sake of having something new. It was about creating a clearer path from I found you to I understand what you do to I want to work with you.

When the client saw the new direction, the response was: “OMG - so much. I am loving the format, layout, colors, pics, etc ”

What We Updated

The refresh included the:

  • Home page

  • About page

  • Services page

  • Membership page

  • Blog

  • FAQs

  • Contact page

Across those pages, I focused on making the site easier to navigate and giving prospective patients a clearer understanding of the practice, available services, and ways to work together.

SEO for a Local Naturopathic Practice

Because the slowdown in new patients included fewer people finding the practice through web searches, SEO was an important part of this project.

I completed keyword research and optimized the Squarespace website around the terms prospective patients were actually using, with an emphasis on searches related to the practice's location.

That meant we weren't simply trying to bring more people to the website. We wanted to improve visibility with people who were actually looking for this type of care in the area.

The Results: More Traffic and Better Search Visibility

Since the refresh, website traffic has increased 10%, and the site is now ranking for 25 keywords.

Even more importantly for a local naturopathic practice, those rankings include location-related keywords that can help connect the practice with prospective patients nearby.

The website has also begun appearing in AI search results, creating another way for prospective patients to discover the practice as search continues to change.

The result is a website that still feels simple and true to the original brand—but now has a much stronger foundation for helping new patients find the practice.

Ready to Refresh Your Naturopathic Website?

If your referrals have slowed down or your website isn't showing up when prospective patients search for the care you provide, you don't necessarily need to scrap everything and start over.
