Why Blogging Is the Best Way to Improve Your SEO

One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give you if you want to show up on Google is to blog.

I know that's not anyone's favorite thing to hear - blogging takes time and it can be hard to figure out what to write about that's actually going to generate leads for your business, but it's still the best way to improve your SEO.

In fact, both of the health and wellness practices that I've talked with lately that are booked with clients get those clients from Google via their blog posts.

And because I don't want to tell you to do something that I'm not doing, I've spent the last few days optimizing the SEO of my blog posts using a combination of keyword research tools and Chat GPT. And now I'm going to share exactly how I'm doing it.

How to Optimize Your Blog Posts for SEO: Step-by-Step

  1. Conduct Keyword Research for Your Blog Post

  2. Update Titles, Descriptions, and Headings for SEO

  3. Rename Images with Keyword-Rich File Names

  4. Compress and Upload Optimized Images

  5. Submit Your Blog Post to Google Search Console

The Tools I'm Using to Optimize Blog Posts for SEO

  • Keysearch and UberSuggest for keyword research

  • ChatGPT to help my optimize my existing content (see the prompt below)

  • Squarespace for hosting my blog

  • TinyPNG for optimizing my images

  • Search Console for indexing my updated posts (and seeing how my SEO is performing)

I found many of these tools via my go-to SEO expert, Brittany Herzberg. She’s helped me to work on my website’s SEO and teaches SEO-focused workshops.

The ChatGPT Prompt I Use to Optimize Blog Posts

"I have written a blog post and I would like to optimize it for SEO.

The keywords that I want to focus on in this post are:
[your list of keywords from your research]

I have already written the content of the post and would like you to review it, then make suggestions for a keyword-rich title, description, and headings for the post based on the keywords above. I would also like to you to write keyword rich image file names for the images in the post.

Here is the post content. The existing headings are marked with **:
