Pitching Yourself to Podcasts and Other Outlets
with Cher Hale
This is my interview with Cher Hale where we cover all things pitching. We cover topics like why it’s important for entrepreneurs to pitch themselves, what types of opportunities are available for you, and how you can create a pitching process of your own. Cher also talks about what makes a good pitch and how she does research ahead of time to make sure that whatever outlet you are pitching is a good fit and then we talk about following up. I give some examples of pitches I’ve received and follow-ups so that you can hear from a podcast host what that feels like. We also talk about what happens if you get a no or a yes after you pitch and how you can continue that relationship in a positive way.
Cher Hale is a publicist who helps authors, activists, and artists tug at more heartstrings + get more eyeballs on their work. She specializes in writing cold (but heartfelt!) pitches and has landed interviews on outlets like The Unmistakable Creative, goop, and NBC. When she’s not writing emails, you can find her re-watching Remember the Titans, playing with her cat Totoro, or hiking somewhere in the PNW.
Marriage and Entrepreneurship
with Arienne Rolon
Today I’m talking about marriage and entrepreneurship with Adrienne Rolon. This was such a fun topic to cover because so many of us, as we run our businesses, are trying to figure out how to involve our spouses and make sure that our marriages are still an important part of our lives. Today we talk about why marriage as an entrepreneur is different than when you both work standard jobs and how we can get our spouses excited and ready to support your business. We then talk about the types of business conversations you should be having with your spouse and how you can find a role for your spouse in your business to support you and to make them a part of what you’re doing. Adrienne also talks about how having children affected their marriage and their business and the changes they had to make as those life changes came along, as well as a few tips for making sure that you are cultivating a marriage and a business that you love.
Adrienne is the wedding planner, designer, floral artist, and marriage encourager behind Heart's Content Events & Design! She is so passionate about her craft, and takes joy in planning and designing stunning, heartfelt, and joy-filled wedding days, so couples can sit back, relax, actively prepare for their marriage, and spend intentional time with those who matter most. She is married to her college sweetheart, Josh, who teams up with her to counsel and encourage creative business owners to become better stewards of their marriages while fostering the growth of thriving businesses. They are blessed to be parents to their fun-loving son, James, their joyful daughter, Nora, and rambunctious but kind Frenchie, Nina.

Using Instagram Stories to Promote Your Services
with Abby Jiu and Lisa Ziesing
In this interview, I’m talking about using Instagram Stories to promote your services with Abby Jiu and Lisa Ziesing of Abby Jiu Photography. I’m really excited about this episode because I have been watching their Instagram Stories and I love their approach. We are talking all about how they got started with Instagram Stories and tips about showing up in front of the camera and figuring out the content you should be sharing. We also talk about getting more engagement on their Stories and how they are engaging with both clients and those in the wedding industry all in one place.
Established in 2009, Abby Jiu Photography began with just Abby behind the lens. Five years later, Lisa joined her, expanding the team and the scope of weddings and events they cover. Over the years, Abby and Lisa have jointly documented dozens of weddings and traveled together for destination jobs as near as New York City and as far as Ireland and Portugal. They also spend plenty of time together in their stylish Northern Virginia office. And even though they shoot individually too, the bond they’ve formed is undeniable.
