Why I Recommend Squarespace for Holistic Health Websites

If your fine (or not), but every time you need to make a quick change, it turns into a tech nightmare or costs you a ridiculous fee, it’s time for a change.

This is exactly why I’m moving a chiropractic client to Squarespace this week. Her current platform is expensive to maintain and she doesn’t have the freedom to make updates on her own.

If you’ve been wondering whether Squarespace is right for your practice, here’s why it’s my go-to recommendation for health and wellness professionals.

You’re in Control

With Squarespace, you own your content and your account—no middleman required. Every website I build gives my clients full admin access, and when our project wraps up, they have complete ownership.

This means you can make edits, add new content, or adjust your site without waiting on someone else (or paying an hourly fee for every little update).

It Grows with You

One of my favorite things about Squarespace is that it’s built to grow alongside your business. It has blogging, e-commerce, email marketing*, memberships, and even online courses*—all under one roof.

*Some of these features require an upgraded plan, but they integrate seamlessly, so you’re not stuck juggling multiple platforms.

SEO Made Simple

Squarespace makes it easy to update all your key SEO elements, including:

  • Page titles and descriptions

  • Blog post SEO

  • Hiding pages from search engines

  • Changing URLs and setting up redirects

It also comes with SSL security, an automatic sitemap, and mobile optimization built in.

Mobile Layout Control

Here’s where Squarespace shines: it automatically optimizes your website for mobile, and you can tweak your mobile layout separately from the desktop version. You don’t have to rebuild the entire design—it’s as simple as rearranging blocks for a smoother mobile experience.

Considering that 50% (or more) of your traffic is coming from mobile devices, this feature is a big deal.

Accessibility Features

Your platform matters when it comes to accessibility. Squarespace offers built-in features like:

  • Alt-text fields for all images (with the option to use AI-generated descriptions)

  • Keyboard focus outlines and a “Skip to Content” link (press Tab on your keyboard to see this in action)

  • Clean semantic structure for screen readers

  • Proper heading levels so you can organize content logically

These features give your website a strong foundation for inclusivity—and help with SEO at the same time.

Editing Is Actually Easy

If you’ve ever tried to DIY a WordPress site and ended up crying into your coffee, you’re not alone. Squarespace’s drag-and-drop builder is intuitive, with all the block types you need.

Plus, when I design a website, I include:

  • A custom tutorial video for your site

  • Access to my full library of tutorials

  • 30 days of support after launch

You don’t need to be “techy” to keep your site up-to-date.

Backups & Low Maintenance

Squarespace lets you back up your site in two ways:

  1. Make a complete copy of your site

  2. Export your page and blog content

Even better? There are no plugins to keep updated, no PHP errors, and no random security warnings. It’s truly an all-in-one platform—so all those maintenance headaches (and surprise costs) disappear.

Try Squarespace for Free

Squarespace offers a free 14-day trial, but let’s be real: two weeks isn’t always enough to build and test a full site.

Here’s my bonus for you: As a Squarespace Circle member, I can start your trial with 6 months of free access (and 20% off your first year). Even if I’m not designing your site, I’m happy to start your trial and hand over admin access—no strings attached.

Ready to See if Squarespace Is Right for You?

If you’re ready to test Squarespace or want to talk about moving your current site over, just contact me. I’ll get your extended trial started (or we can chat about a full redesign if that’s on your radar).
