One Week Website for a Podcast Editor Ready to Grow Her Business
Strategic Website Design
The Challenge:
Rachael is a podcast editor and producer with a passion for helping people tell their stories. After growing her business mostly on referrals, Rachael was ready to invest in a website that would help her reach her dream clients and grow with her business as she looks to hire a sales team and offer training sessions for new editors in the podcast space.
Her previous website was a simple design with a small blog, so we worked together to strategize the pages that should be included on her website based on her industry and crafted a design that was fit her new brand, and emphasized her work with her favorite dream clients.
Why do you do what you do?
“I believe that there is power in each person's story. Jesus taught through parables and gave us the Bible, using stories to help us understand His will. Being an editor means that I can help others relay their stories and share what they've learned m ore clearly with their audience. It also means helping people retain their most valuable asset - time. Time saved for the host so they can focus on the content itself and time saved for the listeners who have their own busy schedules.”
Who is your dream client?
“She wants to make a living with her podcast that allows her to also have the finances and time she needs to take care of her family as well as grow her business. The mission of her show is to share her knowledge and the knowledge of others in order to create a positive impact for her listeners that they can then use to spread good will to others. She hopes use her show as a platform that leads to speaking engagements, live events or writing.”
What your biggest goal for your business and website?
“Contact me about if we would be a good fit. If they're not ready, I hope they will return regularly for various resources.”
The Process:
We started this project from scratch. Rachael’s previous website wasn’t bringing in potential clients and she wasn’t using it as a portfolio, so we were able to use her design inspiration to create something unique.
We began with a mood board that gave direction to the project. I then outlined the pages we would be creating so Rachael could write her copy and cull the images she wanted to feature.
I mocked-up the major pages for Rachel to review and we refined the design. Once the design was approved, I developed each of the pages, including templates for the blog. Before launch, I tested the entire website and made sure the mobile version of the website reflected the desktop design.
FEATURES:
Squarespace website
Custom CSS throughout
Easy to update
Detailed Services pages based on the podcast industry
Emphasis on making it easy for potential clients to reach out
How was working with Lemon and the Sea?
“I've spent hours listening to your podcast and I know you know what you're doing. As a fellow solopreneur, I was impressed with the systems you have in place to make the process so simple for your client, including your communication. And I love the final design!"
The Outcome:
Rachael continues to expand the number of podcasts she edits and produces and has launched a new podcast consulting service. She now has the ability and confidence to update her own website with new blog posts to build her content library and search engine presence.
“Price was my big hesitation in having a site built, but I’ve spent hours listening to Samantha’s podcast (Process to Profitability) and I know she knows what she’s doing. As someone who struggles to make time to focus on my own company, it was great partnering with Samantha. I was impressed with the systems Samantha has in place to make the process so simple for her clients, including her communication. And I love the final design! Although I haven’t “officially” launched, I have already got compliments from friends and potential clients about how nice the site looks.”
