If you've been checking out my portfolio or if you've seen my first website and branding for an amazing performer, Sydney Troxler, you've probably noticed that I love using galleries as a way to display images.
Galleries are really easy to create and they're a great way to keep things organized and looking awesome without too much work. And I'll let you in on a secret: the gallery you see in my portfolio is actually set up as a gallery page elsewhere. Today I'm going to show you how to create your own gallery on your Squarespace site.
For my portfolio, I created an Not Linked Gallery page and then added the image that I wanted to display. Since I want visitors to be able to click on each image and be taken to a more in depth page, I added the URL to the page for project. I could have just used the Gallery Page as my portfolio, but I didn't really like the look of it. (All I did for these images was take one of the images from the project page, add an overlay and text, and then crop it so that it's the same size as the rest of the images on my site. You can learn more about this in my DIY Stock Images + Graphics Course.)
Instead, I created regular page and added a Gallery Block. I connected the block to the existing gallery instead of adding images and then changed the Display so that I got exactly the look that I wanted (and that matches the rest of my site).
Now when you see my portfolio page,it looks great and to add a new project, I just have to add it to the Gallery Page and it automatically updates everywhere I have linked to this gallery. This way I don't have to go in and change every page each time I finish a new project! Yay for making things easy!
