How This UX Expert Used Strategic Website Design to Grow Her Course and Email List
Website Customization
The Challenge:
Michele is a user research professional who has worked with Fortune 500 companies like Facebook, Zillow, and Slack. In 2019, she decided to start offering workshops and group programs to teach other UX professionals and those getting into the UX field.
She needed a website to support her new venture as she transitioned away from her previous website, Ronsen Consulting, as her main online home. It would need to offer ecommerce functionality, support her blog and the UX Lex collaborative project she was developing, and communicate to potential one-on-one clients. The website was launched in February 2020.
THE PROCESS:
Michele hired a designer to layout the main pages of the Curiosity Tank website and asked Lemon and the Sea to collaborate and develop the design in Squarespace. From the initial design mockups, we created all the Squarespace pages, including custom CSS, to recreate the vision Michele and her designer had for the site.
We’ve continued to help Michele to add new pages, refine her workshop sales page based on student feedback, and release to blog posts and resources. We have also set up her ecommerce platform to sell workshops with connections to both ConvertKit and Kajabi so students get all the information they need through automations.
After launching, we evaluated the website’s SERP and developed and implemented a plan to improve the SEO ranking of the site for multiple highly competitive keywords.
Some website updates, like adding new terms to the UX Lex, Michele’s collaboration with dozens of other UX professionals, have been templatized and handed off to other team members with thorough tutorial videos.
