3 Things to Check if Your Website Isn’t Booking Patients
Have you noticed that you aren't getting those happy notifications telling you that someone has booked a consultation?
If you've noticed a decline in the number of consultations or appointments that you're booking, don't panic! There could be a quick fix!
When someone tells me that they aren't getting as many leads as they used to (assuming they haven't made any changes to their website), there are 3 things I like to check before jumping into panic mode and starting a redesign or changing your messaging.
1. Is your website loading?
Type in your URL and make sure your website is actually loading instead of just assuming that it is.
If it's not loading, first check that your website platform isn't down. If other websites are working, log into your website host to make sure that your payment is up to date, they aren't showing any errors, and that your DNS settings haven't changed.
You can always reach out to customer support and let them know you're seeing an issue.
If your website is loading like normal, move on to the next step.
2. Are your links and forms working?
Click through all the links on your website to make sure that they are working. Most often this is where it problem occurs because while you may open your website frequently, you probably aren't testing every link and form (and people aren't going to reach out to let you know there is a problem).
If you send someone to an online scheduler, go through the steps of making an appointment.
If you ask them to apply or complete a form, try it out yourself.
If you have people call, dial your number and make sure it's working.
If you have an online store, try adding a product to the cart and checking out.
If one of the above things is broken, fix it and then test it out again. It's also helpful to have someone else test it out as well.
If all the links and forms are working, move on to the next step.
3. Visit your website on your phone
Since 50% or more of your traffic is coming from a phone, make sure that the mobile design looks and functions just as well as the desktop version.
Go through each page and note anywhere that the elements are overlapping, text is cut off, or the buttons are too small to tap.
If there are issues you need to fix, do that and then test it out on your phone again.
If your mobile design looks good, move on to the next step.
Haven't found the problem?
While these 3 steps can help you determine if something in the functionality of your website itself is to blame for your bookings drying up, there are lots of other things that could be impacting your business as well.
If you've changed your messaging, are spending more or less time marketing on social media, have switched your audience, or have done an SEO overhaul, these are all things that can impact whether you're reaching and resonating with the right people.
Taking a look at all these pieces and making suggestions for improving your website design and messaging is exactly what I do in my Free Website Review! Just submit your site and I'll send a video walking through what you can do to make sure your website is a great salesperson.
