3 things you’re buying when you get a new website

I am excited to talk with you about what you are really getting when you invest in a website.

So when a lot of people look at website designs, they see a big investment of money and potentially of time, and that's true. It does take a lot of time for you to get everything ready for your website. Depending on the process that you're using with your designer, it might take a long time for that website to be ready to launch. And it also can cost a lot of money, you know, it's a four or five figure investment depending on your business and what is included in the design.

[00:00:49] So that is certainly a decision making factor when you are thinking about is it time to invest in a new website? But I don't want you to think that all you're getting. Your website should be doing more than just being a place where some people can land and learn a little bit about your business. And that's why when you invest in a website, you are actually getting more than just those four pages or that form for people to sign up. It's so much more than that because there are so many pieces that go into a website and that result from you having a really well designed and strategic site.

1. Confidence

[00:01:34] The number one thing I hear my clients say, and the number one thing that you are going to get when you invest in a website is confidence.

[00:01:43] You are going to be confident knowing that your online home is a reflection of you and your business. It reflects your personality, it reflects the type of people you wanna work with. It reflects your brand. And instead of being something that you DIY through together from a template and it only kind of works, you're going to know that it is a true representation of you and your business online.

[00:02:12] You're also going to have the confidence of knowing that a designer did this for you, so despite how many hours you spent trying to get that template to work, and you're still not sure if people who have all the information they need, you can know that somebody who is a professional actually went in and laid this out for you, specifically. For your business, for the type of clients that you work with.

[00:02:39] And that can give you confidence to then share your website, which gives you more confidence in marketing and networking because now you know that your website is going to work when people land on it, it looks and feels the way that you want it to, so it gives you confidence to actually go out and put it in front of people.

2. New clients and leads

[00:03:01] And that's the second thing a new website can get you. It can increase your income because it can bring in new clients.

[00:03:09] I tell people that when they get a new website, they should be seeing ROI on that really quickly. Within two or three months, they should see some kind of ROI because you have more than just changed the look, you have changed the strategy. We've thought about how do you get people to land on your go from landing on your website to actually booking and paying you. How do you get more people to find the site through SEO? How do you make sure that you've got the right content to convert the right people?

[00:03:52] All of that is part of the design process, and so, once your website is launched and you're marketing it, it's going to bring in more people because it's going to resonate with them and it's going to work .So you're not worried about them dropping off because a link didn't work or the form didn't submit, or they're not sure what they want to hire you for.

[00:04:15] We very strategically plan all of that out together based on your business goals and the way your business works. And then the website is designed in a way that is moving people to taking action on those goals so that you are seeing those conversions of people.

Your website is designed to convert people to take action on your goal

[00:04:35] And that doesn't matter if your goal is to get more clients, to sell more products, to get more people signed up for your email list. Whatever that goal is and however you want to then convert them to a client, that's what we're working towards.

[00:04:51] So in last week's episode with Devin, she wants people to get on a call with her and fill out a couple of basic questions so that she is prepared to talk with them about her VIP day. A lot of one-on-one service providers work this way, where they have some kind of an application and they have a call with somebody. So their call to action on their website is not going to be make a four figure investment right now. It's going to be apply now so that we can chat and make sure we're a good fit.

[00:05:23] If you sell really well from your email list, or if you're still growing your business and you don't have a service right now that you wanna sell, you can always push people towards that email list, get them to sign up so that they've been warmed up for when you do have something to.

3. A sales funnel that grows with you

[00:05:46] This all goes back to your website being the number one piece of your sales funnel, and that's the third thing you get. You're really getting a very strategic, clean, simple sales funnel so not only are you going to be seeing an ROI through clients or sales or email list of subscribers, but you have got a sales funnel that's going to last you a long time. This website is not going to be one that you need to change out six months from.

[00:06:18] When I design websites, I strategically design them knowing that your business is going to grow and change over time. So we lay out the entire site thinking about what is going to happen when you want to add a new service.

[00:06:35] How can you add that to your website? What's gonna happen when you start a podcast and you're no longer blogging, but you're putting everything on your podcast? Can you get that all connected?

[00:06:48] The whole thing is designed to last over time so that you can continue to use it. Many of my clients will come back to me and say, "I'm getting ready to launch a new program and I need another sales page. Can you help me with that?" And of course I can.

[00:07:05] I can help them design another sales page, but I tell them also if they want to DIY it, if they don't want to invest in another project with me, they can always use a page that they already have, duplicate that in Squarespace or Kajabi or whatever their platform is, and then update the content. And I give you the tutorials to be able to do that so that this website is going to grow and change with you.

[00:07:34] You're never stuck feeling like, 'This is all I've got, and because I am not ready to make another investment, I have to work within these bounds.' You can always grow and change and make adjustments as your business grows and change.

[00:07:51] So it's not just four pages. It's not just a pretty layout and some fonts. It's not just, oh, well, I paid four figures and I got a mood board and a homepage. You're getting so much more than that because your website is a long-term investment in the growth of your business.

[00:08:16] It is the thing that is going to help you sell more because you're more confident showcasing what you do and networking with people and doing your marketing. It's going to help your business grow because it can grow with you and change as your business does, and it's also going to show, give you a monetary ROI, return on investment, because you're going to see more clients, you're going to see more sales through your website when you have strategically designed it to get people to the right place to take action with you.
