The Strategic Website Design Roadmap

The CHALLENGE:

Monica is an agronomist with a passion for helping farmers, producers, and growers to maintain their soil. The Accidental Agronomist brand and website convey the importance of serving well and focusing on nature. We used Monica's existing logo and expanded her brand with a mood board and color palette. The website is a customized Squarespace template with customized elements that reflect Monica's practical and personable approach to business.

Monica's previous website was designed using a template in WordPress and she found it impossible to update and didn't feel confident talking about her business and charging for her services.

She needed a website that she could understand and that gave her confidence as she began taking on more speaking opportunities and competing with larger companies in her area.

The process:

Monica's first website was not serving her business, so we moved from a limited template to a Squarespace website that would allow her flexibility as she expanded her services.

We began with a mood board that gave direction to the project. I then outlined the pages we would be creating so Moncia could edit and create her copy and choose the images she wanted to feature.

I mocked-up the major pages for Monica to review and we refined the design over strategy calls. Once the design was approved, I developed each of the pages, including creating a blog and importing her old posts from WordPress.

Before launch, I tested the entire website and made sure the mobile version of the website reflected the desktop design.

Since launching, I have continued to partner with Monica on website updates as she speaks at more events and has written eBooks and guides for her audience.

UNIQUE FEATURES:

  • Squarespace website
  • Resources page with links
  • Blog creation
  • Newsletter creation and set-up
  • SEO Starter Package

“I knew what kind of business I wanted, I just didn't know how to represent it visually. Samantha took the time to understand the type of business I have. I like the fact she asked questions and I believe this helped her to be able to design a website that reflected my personality in a professional and personal way.

Samantha made what seemed like an overwhelming task enjoyable. With each step of the process, I was able to not only see the vision come together, it actually helped me to become more focused and excited about what I wanted my website and business to become.

In light of the fact I did not feel confident about how I was originally representing my business, I struggled to even promote it. Since the redesign of the website, it has given me a renewed sense of pride in what I do.”
