What is website strategy and why do i need it?

I believe in crafting websites with beauty and brains. That means that by working with me, we focus on both the design and the strategy behind your website. Website strategy is what makes your website actually do what you need it to in order for you to grow your business. It's not just about looking good, it's about figuring out what your goals are and designing an experience that makes it easy for your dream clients to know exactly what to do. If you're running a business, you need to think about website strategy because it makes your job easier - instead of spending hours trying to get people on your email list or figuring out how to find new clients, your website helps you get there.

How does the design process work?

I've created a signature process called The Strategic Website Design Roadmap. This process includes strategy, design, development & testing, launch, and on-going strategy. The goal is to craft a website that supports your business goals by sharing your message, representing you in the right way, and attracting your dreamiest clients. You can learn more about The Strategic Website Design Roadmap through this guide.

How involved will I be in the design process?

You're a busy business owner and you don't have time to look at every detail of a website design process that takes weeks. That's why The Strategic Website Design Roadmap is laid out so that you know exactly when you will be reviewing designs, working on content, or sitting back and waiting for me to do the behind-the-scenes work. But that doesn't mean I'm going to take your money and disappear - even when you aren't reviewing mock-ups or on a strategy call with me, I send a check-in email every Friday during your project so you know what I've been working on and what your next steps are.

How do you get to know my style?

Before I start your project, we’ll get to know one another through a consult call. This will give us both an idea if we’re the right fit. When you decide to work with me, I’ll provide you with an in-depth questionnaire to learn more about your business and your goals for your new website. You’ll also create a Pinterest board filled with images that represent what you're envisioning for your website. By looking over all of these things, I will get a really good idea of your style and what you want your website to look and feel like.

Should I use Squarespace or Showit?

I love both Squarespace and Showit! Each has different pros and cons and is right for different business models. During our consult call, we will discuss the functionality you need in your website platform and I'll recommend either Showit or Squarespace based on where you are now and what you're planning for the future. And don’t worry, I don’t just hand off your website and wish you well. I will record a video of your site in which I walk you through all the back end information and how you can update your website in the future.

Do I need to purchase a template for you to customize?

There is no need for you to purchase a template. If we choose to design in Squarespace, I will install the template that best fits your needs and design and customize it for you. If we are working in Showit, I will use the base template and build your website from the ground up. Either way, you walk away with a website that's totally custom.

What is your background?

I’ve been creating and designing since I was old enough to hold craft supplies. I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to combine my love of creating with my passion for organization and helping others. I attended Clemson University and studied Architecture, where I learned a lot about design in general. My favorite part of every project was playing around with concepts and figuring how to mesh beautiful design with practical experience for each different client. After graduating, I took a job working for a family run business where I handled everything from everyday administrative tasks to updating and photographing products for their online store. I was able to design for every aspect of business from email marketing graphics to real estate advertisements, from product photography to website additions. When the time came to relocate for my husband’s career, I was excited to have the opportunity to take everything I’d learned and the projects I’d done to build a business that allowed me to design for people who are just as passionate about what they do as I am about my own work.

How does your faith impact your business?

I believe that God has blessed me with this opportunity to run this business and to be a steward of it. I have learned that I must surrender all to Him in order to follow the path He has laid before me, both in business and in life. As my business continues to grow, I am constantly turning to Him for guidance and wisdom as I make choices that affect both me and my clients and readers. While I am open about my faith in my blog and it does affect my business decisions, I still work hard to provide great value for everyone that finds me. I also work hard to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit in everything I do. Although I’m still learning and I stumble often, I know that He is at work in this business and that it will grow according to His plan.
